(House) The branches of government, checks and balances, tying of representation to boundaries here, population there, were methods to distribute dissatisfaction somewhat evenly. Background to Hamilton said placing the capitol in south gained agreement on what northerners wanted for structure of currency and financial organization. Electoral College was messed up from start. I've just recently got through my head that Thomas Paine's Common Sense was about forming the constitution. I used to think its timing was about stirring up the revolutionary war. Means to subvert Electoral College, 77% implemented before I heard of it, is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. 17 states plus DC, totaling 209, have enacted a law agreeing to throw their votes to the national popular winner as soon as states totaling at least the winning 270 EC votes have enacted the compact. 61 more EC votes makes it happen! Nevada's House and Senate have approved it; if they approve it again in 2025, it goes on their statewide ballot in 2026. Gov Steve Sisolak vetoed it in 2019, but it's passed again since then. The compact has been introduced in all states. Biggest of the 9 states declining to give it a hearing are TX & FL. Biggest of 17 states to give it at least one committee hearing are PA, GA, OH. Biggest of 6 states to pass the compact in one legislative chamber are NC, MI, VA. Lean on your state governments, people!
