  8. 79 Datsun revved out on me when it was 7 yrs old. A parts store employee said aging cable stretches & binds up in its housing. Cheat code was to clamp (one, eventually two) lead sinkers onto the cable between end ball and contact ring under the gas pedal. Worked like a charm! When my '96 Mazda got old enough to threaten the same stunt: no more lead sinkers to buy. Alligator clip from Radio Shack (yeah, I know) worked for a while but they collapse inward and need replacing occasionally. One side of the alligator clip has more gap than the other, so put the snugger side toward the cable's end ball.

  16. Panopticon! I was still in my 20s (1980s) when I figured out Big Brother was private sector. I didn't worry about this level of surveillance and scrutiny because I didn't think there were enough man hours to watch all citizens. Didn't see it coming that it could be automated.

"Righteousness makes right" rhetoric does want us to believe 2- parent families don't suffer turmoil, especially not white ones, and all unplanned pregnancies can be prevented by telling young folks not to have sex.
