  1. I'm in rural New England, at the edge of a town of fewer than 2,000, where it's a 20 minute walk to my closest neighbor, and I have fiber to the house. OTOH, East Germany had public funding for all its infrastructure. I wonder if this more mismanagement happens anywhere.
