  1. I think the drive to be out there with the headlines early is really getting in the way of trustworthy journalism. And of course confirmation bias plays a role: when I first heard the Jussie Smollet story I thought it sounded dicey, but I probably would have believed the hotel story. And the hotel story was much easier for Fox News to check on.
