  1. White isn't a color, technically. Black isn't either, though, so that's going to mess up the whole "people of color" description just as much. There's no wavelength of light corresponding to either one, white being a mixture of several (or all) the visible wavelengths and black being the absence of light entirely. Of course white people are a light pinkish-brown, so you could say white people are people of color if you stopped calling them white. It's all so verrrry simple. 😊

  2. I was wondering if I could identify as Asian because Europe is just the western part of Asia, but now it looks like that won't help. I guess this does help in that it suggests against some of this equity movement being anti-White. It doesn't make it less wrong, it's just wrong for different reasons.

  3. I think they've often been called Asians for a long time, but not East Asians (Japanese, Chinese, etc.)

  4. IIRC Spanish has Latino for males and Latina for females. Latinx is an attempt to de-gender the terms, made up by the kind of people who feel it is necessary to force another language into their own norms, while screaming about cultural imperialism.🙄

  6. Nobody's perfect. UBI is fairly to the left of my comfort zone, but when I think of it as an alternative to welfare it seems more palatable.
