  1. Thank you for correcting "beg the question." As far as the actual event goes, I think that someone can redeem themselves, and we've made peace with people who we've gone to war against. The WaffenSS was bad; there are a couple instances where ordinary WW2 German soldiers fought alongside American soldiers to fight against the WafffenSS), but unless he committed atrocities in person then I think there have been enough decades to judge him by the whole person.
