When you say "immigrants" do you mean legal or illegal immigrants? And why don't people like to make this distinction?

@Oneconsciousmind Thank you; I appreciate the clarification. But isn't just that it's a law. Immigration should be restricted to a level in which immigrants will assimilate. Would you list the countries that allow unlimited immigration?

@Oneconsciousmind First, you mis-use the phrase "begging the question." More importantly, you didn't answer my question. I didn't ask about countries with no immigration controls, did I? Go and re-read my question if you need to. I also never appealed to authority. You have a habit of misunderstanding logical fallacies ("begging the question" is a fallacy; you mean "inviting the question"). And in the past we've never had unrestricted immigration, which throws previous comparisons out the window.

@Oneconsciousmind Good gravy, one. Begging the question means assuming the affirmative in the premise of the question. Get someone to explain it to you. So, how many countries do not have immigration laws? You didn't list them. And that's not the same as countries with more lax immigration laws. Zero is a subset of less. I didn't reference anyone as an authority when I said that trespassing should be handled as a crime, did I? I didn't say, "It's illegal so it should be stopped," either. I said that immigration shouod be limited to a rate at which assimilation naturally occurs. As to whether assimilation is a good thing or not, let me ask you a question: why don't the immigrants stay where they are? What makes America different than where they are fleeing from, and why? And why don't they just fix that country? I can't tell if you're slow, conceited, or dishonest. Could you clarify that for me?

@Oneconsciousmind Good grief. I still can't tell if you're dishonest or dumb. Or blind, I guess. I never assumed what I was arguing for. I also never appealed to any person or group of people when arguing against illegal immigration. Detention discourages illegal immigration whereas welfare doesn't. Did I say there whether or not illegal immigration is immoral or why? Do you get it now? And you (shockingly) missed the point of my question. Do you think America is just some magic border in which things just happen to work? Maybe, just maybe, American culture has something to do with it? Because if it does, we'd want immigrants to assimilate, yes? Please tell me you understand any of this. But only if you do.
