9:50 I feel like it's important to mention that the elected representatives of the National Assembly and the Senate gathered in Vichy on July 10 and voted Pétain full powers, effectively putting an end to the Third Republic.

2:00 Nonsense. Vichy France has never sided against the allies. France (occupied + Vichy) was officially neutral from 1940 to 1944. Its collaboration with Germany consisted into supporting Germany's war effort. Vichy France happened to resist when foreign powers (that is to say the Allies) tried to seize French territories to protect its sovereignty and its neutrality but did not attack anyone for the interest of the Germans or the Italians. A big approximation after just two minutes, it's a good start. I feel like i'm going to have fun on that video.

17:45 Is that a joke? You are rewriting history. Admiral Darland was in Algeria by coincidence at the time of the Allies' landfall as he was visiting his dying son. Darland was captured by the French resistance that handed him over to the Americans. Darland initially refused to order the French to cease fire but was forced to do so by the Americans. He became the doll of the Americans but assured he took control of French North Africa in the name of Marechal Pétain. He will end up assassinated by a royalist resistance fighter on December 24, 1942 (not 1943, another huge mistake).

@phlm9038 My point is that Vichy does not come from anywhere. It was a legitimate regime given that's what the Paliament voted for.
7
21:53 You end up the video without saying once 'far right'. I'm impressed. With so many errors before I was not expectig you to avoid that one, the biggest one. A good point in the end.

@gringologie9302 Il a un p'tit peu une responsabilité dans le merdier quand-même.
3
11:52 Collaboration did not intensify as the war progressed but as the Europeanist left gradually took precedence over the nationalist right.
3
@lunarmodule6419 People took advantage of the situation to impose a new regime but there's no relation between the conditions of the armistice and the political change. The Germans didn't ask for anything.
3
Vichy France defended its sovereignty and neutrality when the Allies occupied French territories.
2
Unfortunately you will not get accurate information from this video.
2
The whole left would've disappeared then! Don't make me dream!
2
@Sceptonic Most Vichy regime's people were socialists. That doesn't stop people from calling it a 'far right regime'.
2
@Debre. They were socialists. So were the nazis and the fascists.
2
The French knew Poland didn't stand a chance as USSR was to attack two weeks after Germany. That's why they didn't move.
2
France has won more wars than any other country on earth. Shut up.
2
@billpilling5725 I noticed that people who use smileys are generally more stupid than people who don't. What do you think about that?
2
It's Dunkirk from the GERMAN perspective.
2
Vous ne devez pas comprendre grand chose ni à l'histoire ni à la politique.
2
The Germans lost 1.500 aircrafts during the whole campaign of France which prevented from prevailing in the Battle of England. The Germans have always had to fight on two fronts, that's why we can say that war was lost for them from the beginning on.
2
10:50 No militia in 1940. It's three years too soon. Nice job.
2
12:49 In 1942, even the Allies did not have proper information about what the Germans would do to the Jews. Who will believe Vichy regime knew more?
2
Believe me, the French left does not ignore Vichy. The left has been living on the exploitation of 'far right' Vichy for 75 years. Socialist Macron was there just of couple of days ago.
2
4:23 On May 26th, Paul Reynaud met Winston Churchill who talked to him into keeping up the fighting. That same day, the British Expeditionary Corps started boarding to flee the Germans' advance and go home with the French fighting to cover their ass.
2
12:26 Not all Jews were handed over to the Germans. Mostly Foreign Jews. Very little French Jews. The vast majority of the Jews in France were French.
1
Even the French kept their empire. The Germans did not have the means to seize it.
1
'their cities were not bomb to rubble.' Are you trying to be funny? It is assumed that the Americans bombed French cities just for the fun of rebuilding them.
1
18:20 Everything is absolutely fake from 18:20 on. Operation Overlord took place on June 6th. The Vichy regime fell when Pétain was deported to Germany on August 20, as a consequence to the second landfall in Provence (Operation Dragoon). Laval went to Paris in a desperate effort to gather the two houses from the 1936 elections still on standby in order to set up a new regime at the head of which he would have seen himself remaining, thus cutting the grass under de Gaulle's feet, but he failed because of the resistance from the Presidents of the National Assembly and the Senate and due to lack of time.
1
But the KKK is still a creation of the Democrats, right ?
1
"Forgotten" ???? The French left has been thriving on the instrumentalization of Vichy regime for 75 years, sending it back to the "far right" to disqualify in advance all its opponents at the right of the political spectrum.
1
The whole action of the British army during WWII : running away from Germans under the cover of the French. Dunkirk 1940, Bir Hakeim 1942, Alsace 1944... Not much to be proud of.
1
It is ridiculous to call Franco a fascist. Franco could not be a fascist, he was not left-wing.
1
@gur262 Qu'est-ce que m'veux, toi ?
1
He was a traitor who found himself in Algeria by coincidence at the time of the Allies' landfall as he was visiting his dying son. He was made prisoner by the resistance and handed over to the Americans. He refused for two days to give the French the order to cease fire. No one cried when he was murdered.
1
It's the usual socialist treators who put an end to the Empire, not the Prussians.
1
@Crashed131963 After they covered the Brits ass in the dunes of Dunkirk.
1
It's not a great work, many facts are inacurate.
1
Because of USSR's propaganda right after WWII. Stalin needed to make forget that 1) the nazis had always claimed they were socialists just like the bolsheviks ; 2) USSR and Germany had been in good terms since 1937 and allied from 1939 to 1941 ; 3) WWII was just a civil war within the great socialist family with on one hand the socialists pretending to be nationalists and on the other hand socialists pretending to be internationalists. It worked because of communists' discipline with all communist parties taking their orders in Moscow. Furthermore in 1944 - 1945, communist parties took advantage of the purges that followed the Liberation to eradicate right wing resistance - especially in France - and they imposed their point of view.
1
@Real_NicoPlayer It is what people call History. It's not because the left rewrote history to erase its heavy past that it did not happen. It is related in all good history books, those that tell the true story.
1
11:10 The 'conservatice and catholic' Darnand created the militia in order to enforce socialist Europe with the nazis. Another nice try.
1
You learnt inaccurate things.
1
Especially that fascists are imperialist.
1
@stirlingramsay Not at all. Nationalists usually don't invade their neighbours, unlikely fascists. As for economy, nationalists follow a free-market line whereas fascists follow a state controled line.
1
@iroscoe As for the invasion of Norway, the Germans had so few ships that they needed to borrow them from their Soviet allies.
1
Not at all. There are many inacurate facts. You'd better read what I write.
1
If the inner resistance was hyped up, the external resistance was clearly underestimated.
1
As a socialist, Mussolini was more anti capitalist than anti communist. He wouldn't have negotiated with capitalist nations.
