@danielxmiller Some people have significantly more suffering and less serenity than others.

@indridcold8433 My issue with beliefs systems comes when they encourages believing without evidence, and believing despite evidence, as being somehow virtuous. I disagree that beliefs systems have the exact same chances of being correct. It’s about what can be demonstrated to be true. Science isn’t a belief system, it’s a method of measuring reality to the best of our abilities. No other belief systems can offer this without incorporating science first. No other belief systems offers answers that correct science.

@indridcold8433 It’s sort of on you to find purpose and meaning. Just like the rest of us. There isn’t any magic purpose giver, as far as we can tell. It seems better to choose one’s own purpose anyway, for better or worse. I hope you do find some level of happiness though. As pointed out by others, serving others can often prove beneficial to one’s own self. Though, it isn’t required. Peace and reason.

@indridcold8433 I agree that all must make an effort or suffer consequences on not making an effort. And that would hold true regardless of any religions beliefs. Which renders those beliefs sort of useless. In other words, something is true independent of what religious texts say.

@indridcold8433 You do know there is a significant difference between the colloquial use of the term theory, and a scientific theory…right? Colloquially, a theory is a guess or a hunch. A scientific theory is a model based on observable facts and evidence. Equivocation of these two concepts can be problematic.

@indridcold8433 I do appreciate honest dialog, even if we don’t agree.

@indridcold8433 I’ve learned a lot from Street Epistemology. It’s the practice of asking questions to understand another person’s perspective, and determine how they have come to their conclusions. It’s offer more about how we know, as opposed to what we know, or think we know. It seems the feeling you have when you are right, is the same feeling you have when you’re not right, but don’t know it. :)

@indridcold8433 I wouldn’t say it is wrong. Im sure it depends upon the situation. If you weren’t sure of wear you live, for example…. ;) Imagine standing in front of your own home, not wanting to intrude on whoever lives there in case you’re wrong. Or… Officer: Is this your car? Me: I don’t know. It might be but I might be wrong. ;). Lol

@indridcold8433 Lol. That was funny. Well, we know it exists, and we can identify specific attributes. It seems based on observations of it’s orbit, it doesn’t qualify.

@@Yayo-cy7fk It might be better if you built your world view based on evidence. Then, you wouldn’t be wrong as often.
1
@@Yayo-cy7fk That would still beat believing in magical zombie.

@@Yayo-cy7fk We’re not friends and not only do I not need or want you advice, I never asked for it. Strange you think you have any advice to offer Mel,when I’m your superior in probably every way possible. Peace and reason, child.

@@Yayo-cy7fk You’re forgetting, I’m your superior. Too bad your world view isn’t based on evidence. Science could teach you a lot, if only you had the capacity.

@@Yayo-cy7fk Your question is as irrelevant as you are.
