@littlelarry2912 That’s an over simplification which suggests a lack of understanding, and incredulity on your part. They don’t guess the variants each year. They’re aware of the variants and make an assessment based on data as to which variant of the flu will be more prevalent. It’s not that the vaccines are only 50% effective. It’s that you’re only being vaccinated for the strain you are more likely to be exposed to. The Covid vaccine is effective on the various variants so far. It is effective in reducing the likelihood of severe symptoms and death. It reduces the severity and reduces the amount of time an infected person is contagious. So it isn’t the same. You’re trying to paint it that way, but why? You should stop spreading misinformation based on your confirmation bias.

@littlelarry2912 Those are two different things, in case you aren’t aware. Annual flu shots are providing new vaccinations for specific strains of the virus. Right now, the current Covid vaccination is effective on the know variants. Your incredulity continues. Why do you argue from a position of incredulity?

@littlelarry2912 Making predications based on evidence isn’t exactly a guessing game. It’s more of a calculated risk assessment. It may be the case that boosters or other vaccinations are needed. That would be prudent. However, you’re still making fallacious arguments. And the severity of illness and risk of death is higher than what you’re referring to as normal flus.

@littlelarry2912 I find it funny that I have already demonstrated that I have a better understanding, yet here you are trying to preach based on your own incredulity. Calling it a guessing game means you don’t understand the process. And yes, I understand how and why they assess the risk and produce flu vaccines for the most likely strains. I also know how and why it is often difficult to make predications. It’s also worth mentioning that if they create and distribute a vaccine for flu variant A instead of flu variant B, then variant B will then likely become more prominent. When the Covid vaccines were created, they were guessing for the future. You keep using the term “guessing”, which means you don’t really understand how this works. And Covid is still more dangerous than the common flu in terms of spread, potential symptoms, and deaths. Continuing to refer to it as a common flu is a dishonest equivocation, and you should know better.

@littlelarry2912 Watching YouTube isn’t studying immunology. You seem to not understand that vaccines significantly reduce risk of spread and risk of severe symptoms, including death. Making a claim that Covid is just another flu is simply doesn’t comport with reality. You also made a claim that the vaccine is only 60% effective. Effective towards what? And cite your sources.
