But you’d put your trust in an imaginary being such as God?
6
@marialeach8960 You can imagine your god, right? I can demonstrate that I am not imaginary. Can you demonstrate your god is not imaginary? The answer is no.
2
@tomslat8700 Shifting the burden of proof? Do you use that same standard to conclude Allah, Vishnu, and Big Foot exist? Can I prove you were abducted by aliens? Your best argument for the god you believe exists works equally for any imaginary being. As in, it doesn’t work at all.
2
@millstonegoy Are all your friends made of straw….like your argument? Do you understand the difference between mythological naturalism and philosophical naturalism? I bet not.
1
@millstonegoy You’re saying god is a fantasy? I’d agree.
1
@ag3nto578 It’s called the Null Hypothesis. Are you familiar? By the basics..do you mean the laws of logic? Yes, we presuppose the laws of logic. Those can only be demonstrated to work. But you can’t argue against them without using them.
1
@timetowakeup7394 The two party system isn’t imaginary. The US is a Republic, but we utilize democracy. But still, even with a flawed system as we have…your argument is that putting trust in an imaginary being is somehow better? What of this imaginary being was pro-slavery?
1
@millstonegoy So, you’re going to use your complete lack of understanding science…to argue that science is unreliable? While being surrounded by, and utilizing devices every day that demonstrate the reliability of science… Like the science based computer device you’re using over a science based internet…to argue science isn’t reliable? Can your imaginary being do anything demonstrable within reality? And I’m really sorry you don’t understand biology. Learning Science would serve you well.
1
@millstonegoy So when you say “it very well might be” but you can’t back it by evidence…you prove me point.
1
@tomslat8700 So the point of your argument is to dismiss all of reality and still not demonstrate any gods exist? How do you know where you live? Could you order a pizza to have delivered to your home? Your best argument is that reality doesn’t exist?
1
@tomslat8700 The point of your first comment was to shift the burden of proof.
1
@tomslat8700 If you didn’t exist, could you have this conversation? Of the internet doesn’t exist, could you be reading this post? Reason is the capacity of consciously applying logic by drawing conclusions from new or existing information, with the aim of seeking the truth Do you care whether the beliefs you hold are true?
1
@jonathandevereaux298 So, you don’t have good reason for your own beliefs?
1
@mountairyforjesus I think, therefore I am. I think that applies regardless of one’s worldview. How do you know you exist? Is it unreasonable to tentatively hold a position that you exist, based on this conversation? Can you conceive of a way you would demonstrate your existence to say…a court of law or a new employer? And more importantly….how would you demonstrate any god exists within reality?
1
@timetowakeup7394 Lol. Do some research? That is the cry of so,done who doesn’t have good reasons for their beliefs. Your claim is that the two party system is imaginary. You own that burden of proof. I’m not claiming their is no god. That’s an unfalsifiable claim. It would benefit you to understand logic. Really a shame you don’t. As for your burden of proof, you’d have to meet the burden of proof for your claims. And you can’t.
1
@tomslat8700 No proof of anything? So, if you leave your home, how would you know how to get back to,your home, or that you ever made it back? Are you suggesting you’ve never returned to your own home?
1
@tomslat8700 If there can be no proof of anything, how do you use math? Oh, let me guess…you don’t understand math, science, or logic? Nah, far more likely you’re being unreadable in order to defend an unreasonable belief. It’s funny because your argument works again the claim that a god exists. In fact, you’re forced to agree with me saying you can’t demonstrate any gods exist.
1
@tomslat8700 It is funny, you’re going to deny all of reality in order to justify belief in an Imaginary being.
1
@mountairyforjesus I know I am thinking, because I am thinking now. I can’t necessarily demonstrate to you that I am thinking, but you should be able to determine whether or not,you’re thinking. Are you suggesting you can’t? You know how we can all tell you’re wrong? Because you won’t answer questions that debunk your position. Why won’t you answer the questions I offer? And, your argument only serves to deny reality, which doesn’t help the claim that any gods exist.
1
@mountairyforjesus Have you ever ordered a pizza to be delivered to your home?
1
@mountairyforjesus No, you asked how I know I exist. And I offered an explanation, one you can also use. I think, therefore I am. But I also acknowledge that I could exist, even if I cannot prove you exist. However, we have a reasonable demonstration of both. One you don’t have for the existence of any gods. I have t demanded anything. I simply asked if you could demonstrate any god exists. You could have been honest and simply said no. Instead, you attempt to try to deny the existence of all of reality…and you want to suggest my world view is absurd. Have you ever left your home and successfully returned? Have you ever had a pizza delivered? Could you order a pizza to demonstrate whether or not a pizza could be delivered? Are you willing to admit your argument isn’t an argument for the existence of any god? Are you willing to admit you believe without warrant?
1
@tomslat8700 It’s a shame you don’t understand what a justified true belief is.
1
@timetowakeup7394 You’re suggesting you can meet the burden of proof,for the claim that a god exists? Congratulations. You’d be the first in history to do so. Let me congratulate you in advance for being awarded the Nobel prize. Now, how would you do so?
1
So not a single one of you can offer a demonstration that a god exists?
1
@mountairyforjesus Your best argument for the existence of god is that reality doesn’t exist? Lol.
1
@timetowakeup7394 Then go ahead and meet your burden of proof.
1
@timetowakeup7394 Actually, you did make reference to the idea there is no god. And you don’t seem to understand what unfalsifiable means. But yeah, show me how the two party system with all it’s flaws is imaginary.
1
@tomslat8700 We’ve already discussed this. The analysis is generally called the justified-true-belief form of analysis of knowledge. For instance, your knowing that you are a person would be your believing (as you do) that you are one, along with this belief's being true (as it is) and its resting (as it does) upon much good evidence. Go ahead and argue that you don’t have a justified true belief for your own existence. Once you’ve done so, you’ve rendered your argument and everything you say invalid.
1
@tomslat8700 The real problem you’re trying to elude is that your argument supports my position.
1
@tomslat8700 How did you know to respond to me post? 🤔
1
@tomslat8700 I used the word elude, not illude. Right? It’s not out of the realm of possibility we could become friends, however unlikely. Though it would be dishonest to suggest we are currently friends.
1
@tomslat8700 I’m asking.
1
@tomslat8700 Can anyone demonstrate you exist? I bet they could. I’m limited by location, however, if we were in the same room I could demonstrate to another person that you exist. I love that your best argument for a god leads to denying your own existence and your god’s existence. Was your mother aware when she birthed you? Are are you denying the existence of your mother too?
1
@tomslat8700 We can’t be friends because I have standards you clearly could not meet.
1
@tomslat8700 Does YouTube exist? https://youtu.be/riiyBEELdSU
1
@tomslat8700 I don’t understand psychology? How would you know?
1
@DavidBent47 trump did that.
