Remember… The First Amendment guarantees religious freedom. The First Commandment literally commands against it. This means Christianity is fundamentally opposed to American Freedoms and American values.

@richardryley3660 You might want to go back and check on the First Amendment. It does indeed have a clause which prevents the government from interfering with religion. However, these is another clause referring to the free exercise of religion. The First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion. The First commandment opposes this American value. Of course, since you’re a believer, you cannot be honest. Interesting that you notice people with God beliefs do tend to want to justify murder based on what they think their God wants. And secular law is needed to prevent that.

@richardryley3660 Right…the First Amendment guarantees religious freedom. The First Commandment is literally commanding against this freedom. That is my point. Can you be honest enough to admit this? One would hope God would never tell anyone to commit murder. But would it be considered murder if God commands it? According to doctrine, at least the Abrahamic God has commanded people kill other people. God also made slavery permissible by his own laws. And yes, there is a commandment that says thou shall not kill. Why would,we need this commandment from an imaginary being, when we are smart enough to figure this out on our own and create secular laws to discourage it and punish those that do? And how would we know whether or not someone who hears God tell them to kill another is being honest? You can question whether they are honest, but you can never falsify whether or not God ever told them to. Right? Besides, if the commandment is thou shall not kill, what happens to our 2nd amendment rights, and laws that allow us to use deadly force to protect ourselves?
