We need a “don’t say God” bill.

@dwightschrute47 No. But God wasn’t originally in the pledge of allegiance either. It was added by zealots. And it complicates the pledge. While I could potentially pledge myself to a Nation, I can’t pledge myself to any Nation based on a belief in a God which I do not hold. A God neither you or anyone else could ever demonstrate exists in reality. A God that, according to doctrine made slavery permissible by his own laws…and drowned babies.

@joc.1353 Like their “don’t say gay” bills.

@alexandredesmarais3848 A don’t say god bill wouldn’t have to restrict books. It,wouldn’t even restrict religion in their own homes or churches. But you make an excellent point about authoritarianism.

@iceshadow487 That’s pretty much all religion does is restrict and harm. Whatever religion offers that people need, it can be found outside of religion. Religion doesn’t own community. It doesn’t own charity.

@Olugraphics A don’t say god bill isn’t about banning books. It’s about making it illegal to mention anything about your god, church, or religion in schools. Like the don’t say gay bill. You don’t seem to understand parody or sarcasm, either. Your suggesting about the extreme left would apply if anyone was really trying to pass such a bill. Which they aren’t.

@Feefa99 In fact, the United States was founded as a Secular nation and remains one today. May I recommend reading The Founding Myth?
3
@Olugraphics No kidding.

@scotthullinger4684 The right may be trying to do that. Isn’t that what their don’t say gay bill does?

@Edge Valmond I think part of the problem with removing “under god” from the pledge is due to legal standing. There have to be enough people who can claim those words cause them harm. Attempting to pursue a case that fails will only serve to protect that phrase, and would go against our position. In time, it may be removed. But with the sham stacking of the Supreme Court, that will likely be pushed back another twenty or thirty years, unfortunately.

@Feefa99 In practice it is secular. Most “Christians” don’t agree with other Christians. Ever heard of the No True Scotsman fallacy? Most Americans are female. That doesn’t make us a female nation. Besides, your God cannot ever be demonstrated to exist in reality. So is America a deluded nation?

@Feefa99 Go read The Founding Myth. Heck, go rad any book, besides your holy hate book.

@callback4all Do you know the criteria for which books are being banned?
1
@callback4all You didn’t answer my question. Do you know the criteria for banning books? Remember, the OP isn’t about banning books. But you can’t even have a good faith dialog and answer the question. And no, In whatever imagined discussion you’re having, whatever “both sides” you mean can’t be clarified when you refuse to answer questions. But please, why do you worship a god that drowns babies? Why should that be permitted in schools?
1
@callback4all I don’t know the song. What is it you’re asking? Do I agree that the Bible should be banned under the criteria being used for banning books? I don’t agree with the criteria, but under the criteria it should be banned. And if there is a “don’t say gay” bill, there should definitely be a “don’t say god” bill. Get it?

@raccoontummyrubs False. Absolutely false. But you’re defending it, apparently, without having read it. Based on your projection.
