Given what is happening now, I guess it'll be whoever listens to and is more aligned with the population's opinion... though in 4 years time the reality will be absolutely different from today, perhaps. What I hope for France is that they elect the most democratic candidate, whoever it is at the time of the elections. Perhaps by then the world in full will already have far more clarity of the problems of electing authoritarian or theocratic candidates. Hopefully not because of some disaster, but because enough time has passed to compare the different ideologies with a cold head. Western democracies need to realign themselves around the concept of secularity and strong democratic values, and get rid of racism, misogyny, homophobia and other forms of prejudice already. The type of politics that we have today, polarized as it is, is antithetical to the sort of strength and unity we'll need as Climate Change becomes worse overtime.
