  1. Like so many problems in public transportation, it all comes down to infrastructure and a hope that this time change will be enough to improve it... I wouldn't be too sure, but one can only hope. I don't wanna rain on anyone's parade, but let's be honest here: throwing a bunch of electric scooters around might not be cheap, but it's peanuts in comparison to the budgets needed for changing entire streets and whatnot. Not that I don't see any advantages in offering an alternative method of transportation, but I don't think it should be oversold. There's not a whole lot of advantages electric scooters will give in comparison to just walking or biking. And those do help in specific scenarios for a bunch of people, but they don't do miracles. I really think we need to go a bit beyond this, coming up with laws and ways to just enable people to live closer to where they work. That's an entire other problem in itself, but you can only do so much by instead of solving inherent core problems of the system, you just keep slapping things on top of it and hoping it masks things well enough.
