Even though I agree in principle that copying video and steeling are two different things (which is why there’s a separate term for the former, i.e. ‘copyright infringement’) and I don’t particularly condemn people who share music or films, there is, in my view, a significant difference when someone infringes on copyright to actively make money off of it.

Have you tried pursuing copyright infringement in court and demand damages? It may sound expensive and complicated but at least talking to a lawyer may be worth it.

This is not necessarily true. For example, in free software world, GPL enforcement is done by just a few people and they manage to get big companies to comply with the terms. Furthermore, they may have an in-house lawyer, but her time is not free – it might be cheaper for them to settle out of court than try to argue their case in court.
