  1. 8:10 — this reminds me of Sully where for similar reason they portrayed NTSB as villains where in reality they were absolutely on the crew’s side in their finding. I contrast it with The Martian which demonstrated that you can have a good film without a conscious antagonist. But I guess some film makers are stuck with thinking that ‘man vs man’ is the only possible source of tension in a story.

  2. In fact there are alternative symbols for quantifiers: ⋀ and ⋁. In the same way ∏ and Σ mean product and sum over elements in a set, ⋀ and ⋁ mean conjunction and disjunction over all elements in the set.

  4. When computers started being used for proofs there was an uproar from some mathematicians. Now it’s a matter of course. Looks like history repeats itself. I also cannot stand behind your ‘you do you, Alpha Geometry’. Deep Blue and later development of Stockfish pushed chess as played by humans forward. Alpha Go introduced new tools for humans to develop strategies with Go. If you care whether your proofs are aesthetically pleasing, you do you, but you’re gonna lose to other mathematicians just like Go player who cares about symmetry on the board will lose with someone who cares about having more points that their opponent.
