  1. We need to invest in E-Highways as they are developing in Germany. Overhead wires trucks can connect to while they drive. Start on Key GTA corridors, then expand to corridors in Montreal and Ottawa, and then sections of the 401. Not only does this allow existing diesel electric trucks to operate electric for significant portions of trips, but it means far smaller batteries are needed for local, and ultimately regional trucking since they can recharge on those corridors and only need 100km range outside them

  2. I'm happy to buy a Chinese EV if it's built in a Canadian factory using Canadian inputs. I really don't care if we hit 100% EV sales by 2035, I care about having an EV industry in Canada by 2035.

  3. Like is said, the 2035 EV target is for industry, not consumers. We absolutely do need these clear guides for industry to invest around. I'd support the GST removal on Canadian EVs. And subsidies for EVs. But I'm against supporting the purchase of Chinese EVs for Consumers. I do think we should lift the tariff temporarily for taxi and corporate fleet purchases of Chinese EVs to create demand for infrastructure, improve city air quality, and reduce oil dependency. But the goal needs to be supporting Canadian EV manufacturing rather than mass consumer uptake of that uptake is Chinese imports.
