@ConfidentlyUninformed Definitely a lot of trolls in the comments though

I mean, check the above comment because I like your gumption, but voting does work. That's why people were so upset when Trump got elected and the supreme court was locked in. If algore had gotten literally a few hundred more votes (which... he did) we'd live in a different world. I mean go do whatever you think will help but don't say voting doesn't work.

The pollution did largely move. But charging electric cars? North America certainly doesn't import electricity. Coal is dying, because its stupid and expensive and we've gone past 18th century train tech.

@tallbrian100 Or keep the lights on like a country that has the most advanced deep drilling in the world, or like the country thats had nuclear reactor technology since before my parents were born, or like a country today with the ability to produce massive amounts of wind power on a continental scale for a fraction of the cost of coal. Or several other options. Never forget that 40% of the US is 0% of some of your most populated states. But I guess all the mercury and lead coal releases has gotten to your head.

@ClimateTown I dare you to demonstrate eating beef is environmentally responsible, over even that the average pork chop or chicken breast could be called ethically acceptible.

What does that mean?

@pennyforyourthots What is waste? I mean if you're saying buring oil instead of making cool stuff like carbon fiber or plastic or medication, sure. Or most gold and diamond mining for fashion/investment. But I don't think a significant amount of material extracted from the planet is used in conspicuous consumption. If anything its mainly labour that is wasted, a yatch isn't all that much material.

@deepspacecow2644 Ya do that, and fund Geo Thermal research. We have an entire industry based on drilling into the ground that we need to re-purpose, and in terms of geothermal things are just... heating up

@tallbrian100 Probably shouldn't build with 40 year old technology then, eh? Build larger plants. Or build more than 1 a decade so you have a profession and construction industry that understands the requirements, which is how South Korea dropped costs. Because of course, the economy is more than dollar transactions it's industries with build up capital and individuals with aquired expertise.
