  2.  @bobbyz9052  My experience is based on use with PCs that are on 24/7. I have fifty hard drives, approximately, across 7 PCs. Every 18 months, one would fail. Often the drive would just vanish from the BIOS, not a head crash. Since I switched to SSDs in 2015, I have not dealt with any failures, nor had any data loss. Ultimately, if archival is the primary goal, use M-disc optical media with 1000 year life span. As for magnetic tape, I have magnetic audio tapes dating back to 1950 which are still playable.
