In my estimation if all 14,000 nuclear weapons of all the major superpowers were to be detonated in the same 24-hour period it might touch off a chain reaction and cause the atmosphere to ignite this ending all life on the planet.

@asd-wd5bj that is true for a single explosion, but we have no data on thousands of simultaneous events. There is some evidence that Mars had intelligent civilization on it perhaps hundreds of thousands of years ago. The craft we landed there spotted structures that appear man made. It also found nuclear isotopes that are the product of nuclear fission, suggesting that Mars experienced some global thermonuclear event. The surviving individuals may have come to earth and are living below the sea in the area near Bermuda triangle where craft have been spotted entering and exiting the sea. It's conjecture, but there is growing evidence. Nuclear war would be bad for the planet.

Russia has bunkers for nearly all of its citizens. So even if the US launched all it would destroy is above ground infrastructure.

@Pecisk At least the Russians have SOMETHING, which is better than what the US has.

@connorbranscombe6819 I suspect that if this nuclear exchange ever happens, chances are every nation will launch everything they have. And any bunkers will become kilns and roast the occupants alive.
