  1. A nice test would be to set up two identical solar panels one directly connected to the batteries and another one connected to a solar charge controller mppt type and then connected to the battery and see which one harvests more kilowatt hours and how much difference.

  2.  @OffGridGarageAustralia  I did find one channel that compared PWM to MPPT controller with 100W panels. The PWM harvested 40W while the MPPT harvested 100W in full sunlight. I expect the spread is even greater in shade or cloud conditions. It would be interesting to test in both situations and see if the advantage of MPPT increases with drop off in light.
