You can thank the manipulated currency system and property taxes for making housing unaffordable. For example in 1963 the minimum wage was a dollar and a quarter. Five silver quarters today have a milk value of about $28 so effectively the minimum wage in 1963 was worth about $28 in today's inflated Fiat currency. What we have is not a minimum wage problem but a matter of a lack of a sound currency.

@jeremyengleman I built my house with my own hands in 1966 to 1972 and today the property taxes are equal to my social security income. I have not paid them in full in a few years because I simply don't have the money. Taxes have made the difference between living and dying in the elements outside.

@jeremyengleman Our state passed legislation to make it illegal to propose a Prop 13 style bill! Senior aid is capped at $500, and is means tested every year. The application process is complicated and frustrating and has to be done every year. $500 is nothing when the tax bill is over $11K a year!
