  1. While a hub would work, so too would a managed switch that supports port mirroring. Reason why a switch should be used: Because hubs only support up to 100MB and hubs are half duplex (meaning acts more like a walkie talkie). Reason why that switch must be a managed type w/ port mirroring , otherwise it would be much harder to see the traffic. I am not sure if all managed switched support port mirroring or not...

  4. I believe UPnP should only br used for Game console (Xbox, PlayStation) games. [EDIT] Important detail. If only one game console, forwarding in not hard. More than one game console with online games with only one public IPv4 Address, good luck wiithout UPnP.

  6. Also if a wirelss NAT router, consider disabling wireless admin access if it exist in your NAT router (Means that to admin the NAT router, you must be a wired connection).
