Comments by "SolarChronicle" (@SolarChronicle) on "VIRAL MOMENT: Pete Hegseth's Response To Elizabeth Warren Makes Many In Confirmation Hearing Laugh" video.
How do you figure? She asked him a yes or no question. She didn't ask him if he was a General. She knows he not a General. She asked him point blank if he would not work for a contractor for 10 years just like all previous Generals have promised not to do in past.
2
@CollinMonohan24 Yes, really. When someone gives you a shockingly dumb answer you tend to have a surprised look on your face.
2
Yes because he made himself look like a fool.
2
@ Oof, poor judgment on the republicans part.
2
It wasn't the slam dunk you thought it was. Listen to it again.

@sherri2463 If he had answered “yes” would you still feel the same about him?
1
@sherri2463 Fall for what? It was a yes or no question. You’re not making any sense.
1
@sherri2463 Correct. That’s why I asked you, “Fall for what”. These tough questions exist for a reason. It makes a difference whether Hegseth works for the defense industry because of potential conflicts of interest and the impact on public trust. If he joins a defense contractor, it raises concerns about whether his decisions in office were influenced by future job prospects. Even the perception of impropriety can undermine confidence in government institutions. Ethical standards, such as cooling off periods exist to prevent undue influence and ensure officials prioritize national interests over personal gain. Ignoring this issue contradicts principles of transparency and accountability. Similar restrictions apply to ex-military generals to maintain fairness and consistency. If public trust in decision making is important, then Hegseth’s post-office employment matters. Even without legal violations, ethical considerations remain important. Avoiding the question suggests he may already be considering such employment or does not want to be held accountable for a commitment he may break later. There was no “crap” to fall for. It was a important question.

@sherri2463 Did she ask him if he was a General?
1
@sherri2463 OMG is right!!! You finally get it! Good for you 👍
1
Because he was deflecting. It was a yes or no question. "Will you not work for a contractor for 10 years after you leave?" YES or NO.
1
Never trust a guy with slick-backed hair.
1
He was laughing at Hegseth. I was too.
1
Oh, ffs! This was hardly a "Gotcha Moment". She knows he's not a General. This was just another blatant refusal to question because he's knows the answer is, YES.
1
Oh, ffs! This was hardly a "Gotcha Moment". She knows he's not a f--- General. This was just another blatant refusal to question because he's knows the answer is, YES.
1
What's so great about it?
1
Crowd was laughing at him. They laughed after he spoke. Not after her. Your simpleton brain can't figure that out?
1
What does that make you?
1
Crowd was laughing at him, not her.
1
Yes, because it was a stupid answer.
1
What does that make you?
1
Another non-answer. Just like Hegseth.
1
Why is her question stupid? Don’t you think we ought to know the intentions of our political leaders?
1
No, the question came near the end.
1
Finally someone who gets it. Thank you!
1
Everyone was laughing at him, not her.
1
@iborg7301 Did she ask him if he was a General?
1
@iborg7301 Correct. So then why not give a yes or no answer?
1
@iborg7301 Again, she didn’t ask him if he was a General. So for you to say it was funnier to remind her that he’s not a General doesn’t make sense. Why are you dullards pretending otherwise? She’s asking if he will hold himself to the same standard given the fact he believes Generals shouldn’t work for military contractors for a period of 10 years after retiring. His strawman response clearly means he doesn’t have the guts to say no.
1
@tbet1879 Maybe you should read them.
1
@iborg7301 Asking a man who will be in charge of Generals if he will follow the same ethical precedent set by ex-military Generals isn't an unreasonable question. Can you provide a strong rationale for why the question is unreasonable?
1
@iborg7301 Translation: “I can’t come up with a rational explanation of why the question was unreasonable so I’ll just deflect with a few red-herrings sprinkled with some colorful emojis.”

It wasn't the slam dunk you thought it was.
