The remaining hardware was dismantled; some was scrapped, some repurposed for other projects, and some displayed in museums. The contractors that produced this equipment either closed down or transitioned to other government contracts. So, we stopped going to the moon. Simple as that. "With extreme technological advancements, we would've been back dozens of times." Yes, technology has advanced, which is why we have a self-landing rover and a mini helicopter on Mars, as well as a telescope that can see back almost to the beginning of our observable universe. Not having been back despite advances in technology should tell you it's not about the technology. It's about money.
