I have been a corporate VP of 2 large US NASDAQ corporations and two private ones and even as a commercial VP all managers and leaders had to have GAAP training at high level, so to pretend you are ignorant of the rules or « leave all that to accountants » is simply a lie by the Trump « kids ». You HAVE to be aware at a high level as to what you are signing and the basis for valuations, taxes etc.
