Putin cant and wont win this long term. His plan seemed to hinge on a rapid invasion and overwhelming Ukraine quickly. Not only did that not happen, meaning Russia are bogged down, they have suffered more losses than expected, their equipment and training is clearly substandard. The other thing of course is the longer is goes on, the more aid and military equipment from the west gets to the front lines. If he hoped it would slow down accession to NATO for the Baltic countries, it has done the opposite. He has shot himself in both feet.
