  1. Interesting design and looks very efficient. I guess it could be built as "2 x 3 cylinder engines" to create a V6 as well. It seems simpler with no valve train, cams etc. I would think the main things holding it back are: 1. Car makers desire to invest in new diesel tech when the whole world is going to hybrib and all electric. 2. Tooling / build investement for new designs. It strikes me that a 3 cylinder version coupled with an electric motor and battery would make a very, very efficient hybrid motor and drive train.
