  1. I am a physicist and so far as we can work out, the laws of physics as we know them came into being at the moment of the singularity. There were clearly physics involved but the rules as such are unknown.

  2. Even if only 0.1% of the estimate rocky planets in the habitable zone contained life, that it still 10 million potential life-bearing planets in our galaxy alone….. and there are billions of galaxies in the observable universe. There simply has to be life out there.

  4. I am the same. I know animals dont think like us but i often wonder what it would be like to be inside other species minds and how they perceive the world around them.

  18.  @neanda  the good news is that science is working to find that one out and it gets closer and closer. One problematic problem is its hard to define what “nothing” means in the framework of our understanding.

  19.  @ohgeezreact5209  there is zero evidence for the supernatural and mountains of corroborating evidence for the natural, ergo its sensible to conclude that we started naturally. Evolution is one example of this.

  23. I totally agree. Its so arrogant and self centred to think we are alone… even in our own galaxy, let alone the wider cosmos. I also think that given the approx 4.3 billion years ago of the observable universe and the fact homosapiens have been around only between 100,000 and 250,000 years, its safe to assume there likely is life more developed than ours as well as more primitive both at various stages of evolution and technological development.

  26. I have often thought that we could easily be under extremely intelligent observation yet are unaware… rather like Dacid Attenboroughs Green Planet or Planet Earth putting a small camera into a termite mound to observe them. They carry on their daily lives, unaware of our existence.

  27. 20 billion possible life-supporting planets in our galaxy alone and billions of galaxies. For me, it not a question of “if there is life out there” but more what kind of life, how evolved and inteligent and given the vast timescales, do they or will they exist at the same time as us.

  29. The size of even our galaxy are pretty much incomprehensible. Imagine we built amazing technology to get pretty much to the speed of light…it would still take over 1000 lifetimes to cross it.
