@rogerburn5132 "the vegetarian agenda is promoted by Bill Gates".. Are you an anti-vaxxer by any chance? 30 years ago people didnt speak about a lot of things. End of the day we know animals are tortured and harmed in these industries. People spoke out about animal testing and animal cruelty in general. Why not about this? Again, not every vegan is out there proseltyzing ffs. Most of using our own business. But truthfully if people such as myself care about animals we should be speaking up to some degree and informing people same as we do about other animal cruelty. I get it's a tricky topic and we're raised to eat meat, I ate it most my life. But it's kind if fair from a vegan perspective that some of us might feel to put out info or inform others. There is a world away from that and the radicals like in this video. Animals are harmed. Why is it so wrong to jog people into their empathy about that? We do it when the cat killer was slaughtering peoples pets. People compartmentalise and I get that but also get it from our perspective and why those vegans who speak out do. I dont agree with radicalism in any form. Plus it doesnt work. But for those who might simply want to enlighten people surely you must get that.

Because theyve took over our institutions and are destroying peoples social relations.

@lukeoneill513 it's not really. You eat the same veg as everyone and you can get good protein from non-meat sources. Go look at vegan body builders.

@jeanmorris6601 hating vegans is trendy. I'm vegan. Been vegan 5 years. Loads of vegan body builders. Also I was at my healthiest when I stopped eating meat. I gained 25lbs and was much more healthier and fitter in general. Went to the gym and gained lots of muscle. I know there are some idiotic vegans out there but people being mad at others who arent against harming animals is silly. Most people are against that.
2
@rogerburn5132 we dont all push veganism onto people though. So you're hating on people for what? Not wanting to harm animals? Be mad at the ones who approach things badly but to be mad at vegans in general is stupid when both of us are likely against harming animals even if we approach it diff.

@HoiaPolloia shes crazy

I think what she meant is they dont have a nervous system or brain to feel pain like animals do.

@janeknight3434 exactly

@rogerburn5132 I'm not following government propaganda. The fact you think I am is your own conditioning. I was an anti-vaxxer 12 years ago and after a couple years I stopped believing what I did. Ten years ago the government wasnt talking about vaccines. It was people on the internet on the debate pages. So I do know about it. Been there, done that. I'm pro-choice btw as I'm in no denial that vaccines have risks. As for Bill Gates he didnt influence me so its irrelevant to show me. I dont know why you assume that many vegans are being influenced by Bill Gates. We simply know animals suffer and want to reduce that. It's not some mad conspiracy theory.

I'm vegan and still couldnt understand. Maybe she needs more meat to help her brain make sense 🤭

We know animals eat other animals. We just choose not to

@vickyflanagan5795 when you say animal matter do you mean manure? Or actual animals? If they died naturally then that doesnt go against my reasons for being vegan. Yes, I'm ok to eat plants. I dont see it as killing them as that's a term we use for animals. Also I'm sesning hostility. Just so you know I'm not one of those angry vegans so you can talk to me normally and I'll talk normally back. I'm totally open to discussion or being swayed by better evidence. If I lived somewhere where I had to eat meat to survive I would. I dont know what a lichen diet is or whether your claim it would send me nuts is true. Yes, I've heard before that cattle would become extinct if we stop eating them. Like I said to the person at the time I would rather that than them suffering. Anyway, like I said I am open to discussion and actually enjoy it. You can chat with me and dont need to bring hostility into it. I genuinely dont have energy for hostility and would much rather enjoy a fruitful discussion otherwise I'd rather bow out. I never debate this topic normally anyway so you dont need to approach me as if I am one of those vegans who causes trouble. Peace :)

@vickyflanagan5795 Since when was the term vegan political? As far as I'm aware it wasnt made political until a few years ago. My friend who doesnt eat meat also doesnt liked being lumped in with vegans but that's because some act like dicks so he wants to disassociate himself because they've pissed him off and because people such as yourself judge people who are vegan. I became vegan before I had social media so this isnt anything to do with marketing atall. I wasnt someone who followed news atall back then. And people can be vegan without all the meat-subsitutes or supplements. Not sure why you're linking auto-immune diseases and allergies solely to a vegan diet. Did you really just say we would have to GM humans to be a to eat a vegan diet? 🤦♀️😂😂 and I have no idea what your Brave New World reference is. Is that a book? I have t read it. Like I said I became vegan before social media. While giving animals a better life in farming would be better they still suffer on the way to slaughter or when their babies are taken from.them. anyway, you genuinely seem to have a beef,no pun, with vegans. I'm the same person I was when I ate meat except now I dont. Just like you dont for most of your day. We're not all like those radicals that have recently popped up online. Just like not all black people are like BLM or not all Muslims are like Taliban.

@vickyflanagan5795 I dont drive and dont intend to but have you tried informing them the impact cars have. I never knew they had a big impact on animals so maybe they just dont know. Some might be aware but need to drive to get kids to school on time and they know they can reduce their impact elsewhere. I'm vegan but I just bought a bottle of washing liquid which will most likely end up in a sea creatures stomach. I cannot remove all impact but I do go to eco shops to buy what I can. I just find their washing liquids very watery and useless so switched back. Whilst cars have an impact on pollution I find smoking more triggering tobmy asthma. Not using that as a point of defence. Just something I wanted to mention as I have severe asthma whenever someone smokes around me otherwise I never get it. But I logically assume cars have a long term impact. I used to be anti-GMO but have since learnt it is actually beneficial in terms of crop yield. So we can feed more people. Thanks. I will read it. Sounds quote 1984 :) To clarify I got social media in 2007. Back then it was very basic with quizzes and games on Fbk and not much in the way of what it's like now with all the groups and news and info that goes viral. That started later around 2010 and that was when I hit my conspiracy theory phase when I joined debate groups. But I became vegetarian back in 91 for about a year. Then I went vegan in 2005. So 5 years before social media changed up and I dont recall being anywhere near vegan posts til much later, potentially around 2014 or something. Basically 10 years after I went vegan and started recycling. I wanted to be a vet when I was a child so that's why I became vegan. I just became an adult and became exposed to more info about what happens to animals from the RSPCA I visited when still in school and fr leaflets people on street stands gave me etc. It certainly was never to do with social media influence. You're using social media diff to how everyone else uses it. Publicly I didnt have those types of convoys either. It was very mild influence and just an logical conclusion from caring about animals. It was hardly some driven propaganda being fed to me as it was barely around me. I'm well aware of what other animals do to each other. That doesnt excuse me from doing it when I am aware of my impact. My last point was for comparison purposes. People treat all vegans as radical. Can I not just be vegan without people treating me those those fringe groups and me having to constantly justify myself?

@vickyflanagan5795 I was born in the 70s :) Am in my 40s. As I stated earlier I dont drive a car and dont intend to. My reasons were because they're bad for the environment. I decided this 17 years ago that I didnt want a car. I already know about roadkill and thought of that earlier and know the effects clearing land does but thought you meant something else. Its funny you mention coal fires. I ws thinking only yesterday how our coal fire that we had as kids prob contributed to my asthma as I currently have a food van out the front burning wood to make pizza and it has caused me severe asthma and I've spoken to an enviromental professor recently who wrote a book and he explained how damaging those wood fires are. Dont misrepresent me. I dont have the energy. I didnt say I eat GM food. I made a point that I was against it but have since heard it yields more crops. You know you can talk to me without being rude. I like conversation and I like to learn to refine my views. Being rude just pushes me away. No..I dont have kids. Are you getting comments mixed up as I said I didnt drive and then you responded saying I did and now you're saying I said I am a parent. Not tried bamboo socks..will wait til my.others wesr out although I sew them so they last longer. Again, I do not own a car and I dont know if I made a typo but I'm pretty sure I said I dont drive and dont plan to. Yes, I've seen the Pacific Clean Up videos. It's one of the reasons I started using the eco shop my friend opened. Just checked and I def didnt make a typo. I clearly said I dont drive.

@vickyflanagan5795 hun. I dont use cars. I live in a small town and walk everywhere. I very rarely get the bus and never get taxis unless I'm with someone who chose to. My response about GMOs was how you phrased it. I'm well aware we cannot remove harm. I dont claim that. My aim is to reduce harm. Pharmaceutical companies have nothing to do with me being vegan. "Big Pharma" sounding like me when I was a conspiracy theorist. Unless not eating meat upsets the food chain as per your mention I'm not going to eat it. Not wanting to eat animals because of how they're treated is not ridiculous. I do advocate for better farming practices. You know, considering people still eat meat. Thats just obvious. I dont know what you mean by health food obsession. I just eat what I used to eat when I was a meat eater minus the meat replaced with meat substitutes. I'm actually unhealthy for a vegan as I eat chocolates and sweets still. So you're placing something onto vegans that doesnt apply. We eat just as unhealthy as meat eaters do. I'm aware animals die making soy. You really are a condescending bitch. Why not ask if I know instead of making assumptions. I choose to go for what I see as a lesser harm. I think a quicker kill is better than those stuck in farming practices suffering for months on end. Would you like me to stop eating all food because you expect me to be a perfect vegan because you assume that's what vegans tout or something? We dont profess that. We know we still cause harm just by being here. we simply want to reduce harm in the ways we can..its not rocket science I literally dont know what you're referring to again about Big Pharma. I loterally just eat fruit, veg and some meat substitute. You talk about them profiting as if farmers don't profit. So I dont get your point exactly. Just seems you have a personal beef with Big Pharma no pun. I've read it costs more to produce meat. So who is correct. Who knows. Anyway when I commented on this thread I didnt realise a long arse debate was going to ensue. I'm busy. Enjoy your day. unfollowing and muting

My stepmom was vegetarian for years but became deficient so started eating prawns. I've been vegan 6 years. If I start having issue then I'll eat some fish ince a month or week or something. Vegans tend to lack B12 and should supplement. There are many very healthy vegan body builders. The Sculpted Vegan is one if you check her on Facebook her figure is amazing.
1
@HoiaPolloia it depends. Meat costs just as much as meat substitutes.
1
@HoiaPolloia I dont understand what your comment has to do with what I said. You claimed meat substitutes cost a lot and I was simply explaining I think they prob cost the same as meat. Your comment doesnt really relate to that in any way. I didnt even mention Malawi.

Not to mention Cannabalism.

I'm vegan but I'm not stupid. And it's funny I was speaking to my vegetarian colleague last week about that film and said I would eat them. Whether a vegan in regular society or in an Andes plane crash we both have choices but the former I have the luxury of other options whereas in the Andes my option is death. Obviously I'm going to opt for survival. Also I'm an ethical vegan so I'll eat animal products if they're going to waste.

I'm vegan and shes nuts. Eating meat isnt racist, atleast not if we use it the way we always have. I see other vegans use the term "speciest" and yes Darwin prob interchange the term race and species so technically they might be correct but it's not a term I use. There are vegans who think that using certain language will evoke a certain response which it doesnt. It achieves the opposite. Even their terms make my eyes roll. Bottom line most people know animals suffer in the meat/dairy industry and there are certain things that happen as part of the industry such as PACing (feel free to look that up of you want) that people can inform others on but comparing other animals to humans with terms such as "genocide" when we arent raised that way just wont register with meat-eaters and make them think we're neurotic even if it it is mass killing. It's a really tricky topic and as much as I should prob try to gently convince others I tend to steer away from those conversations as people just hate vegans these days as it's become the trendy thing. Most he humans know they suffer, you know. It's not like they need telling. Theyve made a choice and it's a delicate topic to approach.
