  13.  @HerRoyalMelanin I'm from the UK and we didnt use the term "bi-racial". We've picked that up off Americans the last decade from social media. The word "mixed race" didnt even exist until that late 90s and wasnt in wider circulation until much later. So everyone used the word halfcast when describing someone with one black, one white parent. Also those "from the community" whatever that new-found term means would use the word "brownin". Halfcast is not derogatory atall. Same as people have come out and said mullato isnt. Half isnt implying you're half a human or half of a pure race. Its saying half of your heritage is of another race to the majority. I grew up with that word. It's the word halfcast people used to refer to themselves and taught us to use. They still use it in Africa to refer to themselves. They literally sell a product called halfcast bleaching cream which you can see women making on YouTube videos. Also the word negro isnt racist either. It literally means black in Spanish. The other n word is considered racist however with people lying left, right and centre about halfcast being offensive when it literally means "half-race" then I dont believe people anymore. Coloured was also not considered offensive and Africans also use this word. You can find articles written by Africans about their "halfcast celebrities" with people of diff races such as black/white or Indian/black. We used to call them coolie but apparently people also find this offensive all of a sudden. Go Jamaica and they call half white kids "white". Its simply to reference your other half and in no way belittles your genetic make-up. It had nothing atall to do with bwing impure. Ironically Americans use the slavery one-drop rule and call people black who are actually white. Americans use racist def yet moan about ours . Jon Agard writes one poem and people read way to in to it. I was there. I grew up with this word. And I'm telling you factually it was never used to be offensive. Problem is acadamia give kids things to deconstruct and now you find everything offensive even down to the definition of what a woman is. Why does Shatta Wale have a song called Halfcast? Why did the boys from London create Halfcast Podcast two years ago? Why did noone have an issue with the term until a few years ago after George Floyd. We only used the word mixed race to cover all bases on the census forms incase someone was a mix of more than two races due to us becoming more mixed as a nation. Ive started using the term halfcast more now simply because of people outright lying about the term. This rewriting if history is utterly Orwellian and I'm not having it. Also just for clarity back in 2000 there was a mixed race guy who wrote a news article saying he found the term mixed race offensive for the same reason as halfcast and in a study done by Peter Thatchell he found people were offended by the term bi-racial aswell. People cant say BAME anymore and POC is a reverse of coloured people. In your own lifetime people are saying these terms are offensive. Its speed up due to social media fake outrage. Remember that when you think the term halfcast is supposedly offensive
