I'd argue they took it back 40 years. I was born in the 70s and the 80s and 90s through to 2010 and were the best in terms of racial cohesion. It was around 2010 when social media became more popular and the American narrative crossed over to UK that I saw the slow progression into people becoming more and more racist online. 2013 we had the faux outrage mob and then 2015/2017 the whole cultural appropriation thing. So it's been growing more and more over ten years. But as long as I've been alive I dont recall any widespread racism. Just the usual racist here and there.

@jamesthecat that's something that really irritates me. They got all out beloved shows cancelled that noone was offended by. Claiming blackface is always racist despite those clips had black and Asian actors in them. My mixed race friend loved those programs. This was only 5 years ago these shows were seen as normal. I now dont believe what we were told about history. I think we were lied to because they're lying about us. A small minority who were even there has rewritten our history
