@Wild Earth, they didnt try to wipe out religion in France. I dont know where you heard that but that's not true atall. France has certain laws and people who move there must be happy to abide by them. France has freedom of speech and equality for women. It banned the Burkha so women were not at risk of being oppressed. They were still allowed to wear the hijab.
