  2. ​ @alinasmith5737 Khelif is XY but the SRY gene can sometimes swap genetic material. I dont know any more than that or anything about Khelif's situation.

  3. We didnt used to call it intersex. We used to call it hermaphrodite up until very recently, less than ten years ago. Then in 2014 the term intersex cropped up on fringe posts on social media but you didn't see this term used by others until a few years later around 2017ish and then DSDs came about 2020ish. Hermaphrodite is still the most common word for it and one that is still valid.

  4. I learnt DSD stood for "developmental sex disorder", not "difference in sex development". Both sexes have a diff whereas DSD specifically relates to hermaphrodites or now more recently known as intersex

  5. Hermaphrodites are not a new thing. Even "Footballer's Wives" did this as a storyline when Kathy from Eastenders played the mum if a child who was a hermaphrodite

  6. ​​ @dmka12 not really. In Swyers the person has a womb and non-functioning ovaries. In some ppl the SRY from the Y chromosoem swaps genetic material with the X chromosome. I think this is the case with Swyers. Sex is determined by gametes. In Swyers they are non-functioning. Not sure the testosterone levels in Swyer's.

  7. ​ @mikesmith542 we dont seperate toilets based on chromsomes. Its based on secondary sex characteristics. Hermaphrodites dont always know what they are until puberty such as in Khelif's case who thought they were female and would have used female loos as a child.

  8. ​ @Hedgewisekat you query how ppl with Swyer's dont have the same testosterone levels as men but said yourself they dont produce testosterone thus in Swyer's it is low despite being XY. Your "fit the bill" comment I assume is about Khelif. Not sure anyone is saying Khelif is Swyer's. Ppl were arguing against the other person saying XY always means someone is a man.

  10. I knew about hermaphrodites as a child in the 80s. 'Footballers' Wives' had this as a storyline. This shouldnt be a new topic to adults.
