Coleman wasnt born then. We cant keep harping back to Jim Crow which we all know was racist. By the 90s racism was at its lowest level. Then people started claiming ten years ago that The West is still really racist which just isnt true. He was obviously speaking to then and when he grew up. No point talking about the past when we dont live there anymore. The only thing that matters is are we significantly racist now.

@1:09:44 there is something peaceful in accepting that there will always be a subset of bad people. And just accepting that and living life and not obsessing too much about the bad ones and trying to change them. Of course the push to do so has created a much larger sub-set of problem people that needs addressing.

How all 80s and 90s kids were raised.

@jasonmajere2165 I'm from UK and things didnt shift until 2010ish here. But the shift was online only. I say this as I was still hanging out with black people and everything was as it had always been. The Mark Duggan riots obviously happened in 2011 but we've had random riots before. Those can be considered isolated incidents if it had been a one off. But when it becomes a pattern that's when I'd say the shift happened, and when The Cultual Revolution began. This wasnt something I would have foreseen developing after the Mark Duggan riots. So it was def still relatively isolated back then. I think when sjw activism, fake outrage culture and BLM started around 2013 and all the hashtag movements gave a central focus for people to rally around then it went viral. People began having to hold opinions on everything in their newsfeed. The arguments bled from select groups to posts about the least political thing ever. But I digress. 90s was def the lowest. And I saw almost no racism in the 80s aswell.

@nuqwestr I've not heard of civics. Can you elaborate? What sort of things do they teach and was this taught in high school?

@AllenCrawford3 growing up we were taught one can be too kind. I dont think we remembered to teach that to our own kids.

@nikokaapa yeah. Would be nice. But he said something towards the end about imperfect humans. They will always exist. Once we accept that will always be the case theee is a peace in that with just getting on and living our lives without trying to get every single persons' approval.
