I dont think Starksky was being racist. I think he was swearing for emphasis but because he placed it in front of "black" it seemed like he was placing derogatory emphasis on blacks. It's like if I was swearing about my neighbours smoking around their f**king daughter. It's not being being rude about their daughter but about the situation. As for saying slavery wasnnt genocide it can be seen that way as they needed slaves so they werent trying to kill the slaves they needed. In that sense it wasnt literal genocide by intention despite many died on the journey. Many of the slave owners also died on the journey.

Gen Youtube but it could also be he was damning the idiocy of the question. English sentence structure do often place the expletive infront of the pronoun they're being positive towards. Like if I someone blamed my sister for something and I was venting and said "well it's not because of my effing sister is it?" That's how Starksky's comment came off.

Do you think it was ill judged or not him being literal that slavery wasnt genocide as they wouldnt genocide the slaves they needed for work and because many slave owners also died on the journey too? Is Starsky's expletive not for emphasis as opposed to an adjective for blacks? I've used expletives infront of a person I was talking about who the malice wasnt aimed at simply due to the topic of discussion. My friend said to her mother in law about "I cant even make decisions for my effing daughter" because of the mother in law interfering. The emphasis was on the situation and not being derogatory about her daughter. I think Starsky was using it that way. And just swearing at the idiocy of the situation. We have to remember not everyone walks on eggshells pc-style because of others who are intent on misunderstanding context. As for saying people dont used the phrase do you mean "damned" or "blacks"? I use both. I grew up with black people. Same as I use asians or Filipinoes or Poles or Jews. I know there are some black people get offended with the plural 's on the end but it isnt derogatory atall.

@kungfreddie many slave owners also died on the ships but not many people know that. The conditions were bad for pretty much all on board.

Gen Youtube he didnt aim it at blacks. Maybe you're not English and dont phrase things the same but we def put negative expletives infront of things we are positive towards. The expletive is aimed at the wider context and not as an adjective about the proceeding word. Not atall.

Gen Youtube you're being disingenuous. It doesnt help. You say youre white. Can I ask do you hang out with black people because I do and have done most my life. Saying "damn blacks" in the context of the whole sentence does not imply negativity to black people any more than my friend saying "I cant even make decisions for my effing daughter" to her interfering mother in law. The expletive was about the frustration of the situation. Not about her having negative feelings towards her daughter but in that case the opposite.

@kungfreddie you misunderstood. I wasnt saying slave owners were like slaves in a slave-sense which I think you meant regarding the kidnapping comment. I'm saying slave owners died from the one of same causes slaves did thus it wasnt genocide. There was no purposeful intent to genocide slaves as they were needed as slaves. Some were thrown overboard for diff reasons but not as a form of genocide.
