@bw1513 appropriation is usually always done for positive reasons. The whole "appropriation vs appreciation" misunderstand the term. Appropriation just means to "make ones own". Misappropriation would be if it's done without permission but then you cant misappropriated culture unless it's a very small culture where all members deny you access. It doesnt apply on a wider scale where many will have shared that culture.

@AliceinJapanaland that's the point. Many diff cultures came up with things independently. Like hairstyles. People prob realised the way they braided baskets could be applied to hair.

@GiggityCrabbityGiggity they dont teach history by race though. They teach history in general. They dont call it white history in school. There were black and Indian soldiers who fought in World War II. Do they need to highlight race to make you feel better? Also in a white majority country you will autoamtically be taught history that involves more white people. Just as White Yaardy grew up being taught "black" history in Jamaica.
