I love hearing older black ppl with cockney accents. I dont really rate the hard MLE accent. The 90s London accent black kids spoke was alright. I grew up with that but when it for Stormzy-accent I viewed those individuals as try-hards and chavvy. Now those kids grow up speaking it naturally but it seemed put on back then. But I grew up outside London so..

@MrDaveyboy125 the "d" pronunciation is either from Jamaican or African.

I live in Brighton and remember first hearing London accent/slang and friends using Jamaican (we didnt call it patois). That was early 90s. Around late 90s/early 2000s it started to shift to what they now call an MLE accent when grime kicked off. You can hear it when you listen to the evolution of UK hip hop or grime or UK Garage. and the change in accents.

@hannah60000 MLE is predominantly patois but also British-Jamaican moxed with cockney. Its not called MLE to be pc. Jamaicans are not offended calling their language Jamaican patois. Its called MLE as its its own recognsied dialect due to the fusion creating its own thing based on a new pronunciation. Look up a linguist explaining this. Patois by itself is something diff.
