  1. It would behoove NATO to gear up for spring the same way the US converted its economy in 1939 to prepare for the certainty of entering into a larger war. The Russians have already made clear that they consider themselves at war with NATO as their main adversary. They havn't hit NATO countries because they know that opens an escalated level of conflict, one they will be decimated against and which will quickly escalate to nuclear exchanges. That rubicon has already been crossed as Peter says. It is very hard to envision an end state in which the west accepts a genocidal Putin regime and returns to trade partner status. It is impossible for Ukraine to roll tanks onto Red Square and hoist the blue and yellow over St. Basils cathedral. It is also true that the longer Ukraine waits the stronger Russia will get and even retaking the Donbas let alone Crimea is next to impossible without NATO intervention. Russia will not accept those losses and Ukraine will not stop without their recovery. There is no offramp here, a wider war is inevitable, the Russians will be made to bleed and the escalation to tactical nukes is the only place the Putin regime has left to go to remain in power. Europe and the US need to prepare their people for the near certainty of a nuclear exchange as unthinkable as that is. Every effort should be made now to gear up for conflict and a land war across a thousand miles of Russian territory. Every NATO country should be ringing their cities and facilities with Patriots. Every effort should be made to remove the cancer at it's core and create regime change in Russia. Again, let me make clear because it is unthinkable. By summer of next year,, after Ukraine demolishes Russia's spring offensive and they are on the verge of losing the Donbas and possibly Crimea, Putin will have to escalate to targeting NATO countries directly to misdirect his public away from removing him. Once NATO is actively decimating his forces he will have to use tactical nukes in Ukraine to create a hard point to negotiate a face saving cease fire. At that point stopping the slide to a theatre wide exchange is almost impossible - and by theatre wide I mean - London, Berlin, Washington DC. We are sleepwalking our countries through the gates of Hell here. Citizens are more concerned about the price of gas right now than they are about emerging from their basement with radiation sickness in a nuclear winter famine. Make no mistake - that is where we will be next year and I do not see a way out without direct engagement in regime change - yes shooting Putin in the head.

  2. We also need to lay the ground for Putin's removal. We are certain he has cancer and the long term prognosis is grim. His groomed replacements and rivals are more ruthless and bloody than him but they represent a chance to create an offramp from this slippery slope. Every effort should be made now to prepare the ground with his successors to prepare to stop the war including signaling a return to normal trading status while the new hyenas feast on the carcass of Russia.

  3. Also understand the near certainty of a Taiwan/China conflict in the next two to three years and the real possibility of a North Korean regime destabilization. Along with our local political shit show election presented a choice by the Plutocracy between an alzheimers patient and a four year old with his own trading cards, a recession, global warming, Covid 2023 - the ebola version. F if the aliens don't show up in the next two years and take the guns out of our gorilla hands we are genuinely done for. Maybe broadcasting into space begging for an alien invasion is our best hope. I have a feeling we are regarded with the same disgusted fascination as watching the chimps throw their own feces at the visitors in the zoo.
