They are now actively pushing the position that the war in Ukraine is a reckless waste of money and even the Europeans want out of it. They seem to be trying to create a wedge issue around the cost of aid which could have been better spent on all the struggling people at home for border security, crime or train derailments. That' something we have known could become an issue since the mid terms. A radical congress could halt funding of aid to Ukraine - even the approved bills just by withholding the payments. They represent a real threat to Ukraine's ability to survive the spring offensive. One likely scenario is that congressional choking off of funding right around the government shutdown showdown on extending the debt limit will create an environment that will allow Gemany and France to push for Zelensky to sue for peace and cede land.
