  1. A better question is how prepared did Russia think it was when Putin made the go decision. The answer of course is they weren't - they were bluffing with rotten tires, expired MRE's and weekend conscripts that literally didn't know they were in Ukraine when the artillery hit. Putin went rogue on this and surprised his own people. Putin seems to have a real hate for Ukraine and expressed a desire to wipe them off the map as a people.That's not how most Russians see it. For them it's like the US inading Canada. Sure Canadians are irritating but taking them over seems kind of silly. Now Putin's entire legacy is on the line. If as we've gone over, he is terminal, he is not a rational thinker and that changes how we approach the war. He doesn't back down from this. He has no way to. We will grind him up until somebody grants him a mercy exit through a high window or bullet. My last entirely sophisticated and professional take on his persona and psyche in the fifteen second clip of the Moscow parade saluting a 1940's tank said it all. He is a man resigned to his fate and knowing what is coming. At the moment he seems defeated and is waiting for replacement.
