  1. This "registering" is confusing to most Europeans. I think only Ireland and the UK requires registration. Individual voter registration (and that also gets purged) is a form of voter suppression. Election on Tuesday instead of a Sunday is a form of voter suppression. Unable to "override" your early voting by re-voting in person on election day is a form of voter suppression. Illegal for felons to vote is a form of voter suppression (but apparently they can be presidents).

  2.  @aceclop  Tax agency has everyone's address. As soon as you turn 18 (and has been a citizen for 5 years) you are automatically registered. About a month before election everyone gets a voting card in their mailbox, it says where to go vote, how to pre-vote, etc. This applies to everyone, including inmates in prison.
