It suddenly dawned on me that Watson believes that the insane absurdities and infantile informant tactics will recede in the light of clear thoughts and good, common sense.  No, dear Watson, the insanity will keep spreading!  It will come to seem normal to the majority and the world will become a horrible place for all who would think for themselves.  The darkness will keep expanding and engulf everything necessary to uphold the structure of modern legal democracies, and our culture will succumb. This may happen as quick as within a decade or have a more protracted course, but we are past the point of no return.
