  1. That's the most revealing delusion of politicians in general (and among many CEOs as well) that you can survive by laying off frontline workers. It is flat out impossible. What is possible is to ask the very rich leaders, who would be the ones responsible for the failure anyway, to donate their paycheck to maintain a working frontline. That might tide the core body over a crisis and the failed leaders might learn something in the process. But it took SAS eighteen years before it dawned on management that administration couldn't escape reductions – and were in much more need thereof than pilots, personnel and ground crews. When they finally took the last, abominable step, it came out that every fourth employee was administration and every little department needed it's own little pope, director or chief, who were earning 5-10 times as much as a pilot... During all this, taxpayers money kept the circus flying...
