  5. If AIs can become consciously self aware (which I doubt) they could probably become very troublesome, but the immediate threat is as always the possibilities for abuse by insatiably greedy powermongers...

  6. Are you sure that AI hasn't already taken over very essential functions in the world? Must we always debate our silly decisions as if they were inevitable? I want to debate and know the driving forces behind behind this development. Who have the vested interests? What level of transparency and surveillance of these programs can our lawmakers provide?
