  1. Sydney! You handled yourself excellently! It’s simple: You are genuinely yourself, not some kind of trickster with a need to always be guarded and on the lookout for some angle for oneupmanship. Jack does not possess this kind of integrity and doesn’t even come off as an honest person. I’m sure he wants to be honest, but until you stop lying to yourself, honesty is simply not possible.  You’re also not dumb for never having learned all the dumb ways of joking.
