  4. anthony Exept why do you presume the EU will persevere in the long run? It was and is a horrible brainfart imo; stillborn and never off life support. Don't you remember? We were already overburdened with too much bureaucracy before the union, and the EU just tripled that without any real compensation. The various types of EU support were just raked in by raising taxes... Socialist redistribution of wealth by bureaucrats isn't viable. Welfare is fine, but support is for the dying only. There isn't one single beneficial regulation or institution in the EU which couldn't have been agreed upon by simple intergovernmental negotiations. Diversity on a level playing field is a good thing. Uniform strategies for different nations and cultures are suffocating. And the first six years of the common market were a terrible abuse of the budding nations of Africa, who were met by an insurmountable tariff-barrier, preventing them from getting off our "aid" – effectively keeping them down in pre-industrial poverty and ensuring a lethal mess of corruption, because our aid to them was aimless and ill advised, but still affluent enough to make a local chief into a King – if he skimmed the milk. EU was born a monster and could never grow into something viable. It just grew and alienated homeland voters from their politicians. British voters who fear to loose by leaving are simply easily frightened, naively trusting sheeple, who're too scared to think for themselves – or incapable of doing so. Negotiated agreements, yes! The United States of Europe, never! Get out in time to make readjustment easy.
