The conclusion of the IG report flies in complete contradiction to all its content, but not only that: The insanely grotesque conclusion of no bias-impact – slapped on like a flimsy band aid on an open, festering sore – actually worsened the overall impression of irresponsible, unaccountable and rampant corruption. I personally don't care much whether this was the result of decades of increasingly bad conduct slowly tipping over into treasonous and illegal activities or it was a panicked attempt to hide deep incompetence and corruption. The only thing matters is that the law is applied without favors – not by convenience, but according to severity and degree of danger – and otherwise just as the established practice when dealing with ordinary people's transgressions. And after that in done, efficient, transparent safeguards against recurrences must be set up! If that doesn't happen now, all the hubbub and hoopla were just another layer of deception upon deep and dangerous corruption of the system and a frightening leap towards totalitarian conditions, where the public and critical reporters live in fear of the very public servants whose wages they're paying. In America that would mean only one thing, violent confrontations inevitably morphing into civil war.
