A team of university students, don't recall which, investigated the correlation between house majority and laws passed and found none (0.50) They then ran the same tests on correlation to the ten biggest lobbyists and laws passed. The coefficient was 0.78 If you're a voter, you have the same chance of getting what lawmakers promised by voting as you'd have by flipping a coin. It comes out fifty/fifty. If you're a big lobbyist, your chance improves significantly. It comes out 4/5...

  5. Myles Geoghegan Well, the truth doesn't have another side, see? When you find it, you know it. That is the great divide. Republicans care for the truth, but don't claim to own it. Democrats have lost the sense of truth and replaced it with guidelines and principles. When you build social consensus on principles, all your systems become increasingly complicated and decreasingly effective. The individuals loose tolerance, because everyone agrees – in principle. Real tolerance can only be learned by caring for those you don't agree with. I assure you, it's only in the mind's eye that everything has two sides. In practical matters, even if your sword is double edged, you can use but one cutting edge at any given time. Colbert probably believes himself funny and smart, but take him out of his comfort zone and he's a wobbly toddler in every sense. And worst of all, he's mean and hateful. To me that's pitiful, but I loose the will to pity him the minute he presumes to preach against hate. But that's what MSM do. They think themselves so righteous and entitled, they have somehow earned the monopoly on derision, wrongdoing and even on hating.
